Environmental Monitoring
Environmental monitoring is the systematic collection and analysis of data about the environment. It is used to assess the quality of the environment and to identify and track changes over time. Environmental monitoring is essential for protecting the environment and human health.
In Bangladesh, environmental monitoring is carried out by a number of government agencies, including the Department of Environment (DoE), the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). These agencies collect data on a variety of environmental parameters, including air quality, water quality, soil quality, noise levels, and biodiversity.
The DoE is responsible for setting environmental standards and monitoring compliance with those standards. The BWDB is responsible for monitoring water quality in rivers and canals. The BMD is responsible for monitoring air quality and weather patterns.
